I’ve gone to my fair share of conventions over the years. The Long Island Retro Gaming Expo is easily the best one I’ve ever been to. I had so much fun that I forgot to go to every single panel except the thrash metal concert. It was simply that much fun. I got to play and beat a lot of games while I was there, and ended up adding 14 games to my finished games list. In the order I beat them, they are: Hotel Mario (CD-i), The Simpsons (Arcade), Viper Phase 1 USA (Arcade), Virtua Cop 2 (Arcade), Raiden Fighters (Arcade), Virtua Cop 3 (Arcade), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade), Superman (Arcade), the House of the Dead (Arcade), Lethal Enforcers (Arcade), Mutation Nation (Arcade), X-Men (Arcade), DoDonPachi DaiOuJou (Arcade), and Spider-Man: The Video Game (Arcade). The Expo started in 2015 after I had already left America to teach in Korea, so I can’t speak on past years’, but this one was incredible and I was legitimately bummed when it was over. It took place on the weekend of August 8th to 10th, 2025. Here are some pictures from the Expo.
